Warming Your Account 🔥
Facebook has a big problem with scammers. Often, criminals and bad actors sign up to run Facebook ads and run ads for scams that steal money from people.
Obviously, Facebook has strong mechanisms in place to detect scammers and ban their ad accounts and IP addresses. However, some of these scammers use bots to create accounts over and over again from different IP addresses. It’s a big problem.
In order to fight this, Facebook uses an algorithm to create a “trust score” for your business manager and ad account. When you first setup a business manager, your score will be lower, so you need to build up trust with Facebook.
Plus, if you engage in certain patterns of behaviour, your safety score will get worse, your ads are more likely to get disapproved and your business manager is more likely to get shut down.
To combat this, we’re going to follow a very specific process to “warm up” your account, build trust with Facebook and ensure that your account doesn’t raise any red flags.
When To Do This ⏰
We should start doing this now even though we don’t have creatives ready yet.
This way, when it comes time to run your ads you’ll have an account that’s warmed up. The process is going to take roughly a week, so do this immediately so you don’t get stuck later.
Warmup Theory 💡
Ok, so the first thing to understand is if you create a new account and spend $500/day on conversion objective ads the very same day, you’re very likely to get banned.
This is what scammers do and you don’t want to look like a scammer.
It doesn’t matter that you’re running a legitimate business, the algorithm isn’t that smart. It’s based on rules and it doesn’t like when you create a new account and start with conversion ads.
Instead, you want to make it look like you’re a low-tech, carwash business owner. You want to appear as low-risk as possible to Facebook.
The thought process here is: “what would a typical, low-tech business owner do when setting up a new Facebook ad manager?” This will help you avoid getting your BM banned.
The Warmup Process ⚙️
Ok, so here’s the process that you’re going to go through:
Below, we’re going to go through each of these steps.
Yes, this process is a bit tedious and annoying, but if you skip it, you’re likely to get your BM or ad account shut down, which is going to be much more painful and annoying.
BM Verification ✅
The next step in the process is verifying your business manager.
Here’s how to verify your business manager:
